The scoping session on May 27 will include a map exercise to document traditional land use areas. Community members are encouraged to attend.
Community members in Ulukhaktok have identified several traditional camping and harvesting areas near the proposed exploration sites. These should be mapped and avoided during field operations.
Victoria Island is home to Peary caribou, which are listed as endangered under SARA. The exploration program must demonstrate that drill sites avoid critical calving habitat.
